Korean pronunciation(한국어 발음) | 연음1 (Liaison / Resyllabification)

연음이란❓

Korean has a pronunciation rule called "Liaison Resyllabification".

This refers to seamless connection in speech, where if a syllable ends with a final consonant (batchim) and the following syllable starts with the silent consonant "ㅇ" (a vowel sound), the final consonant moves over to be pronounced as the initial consonant of the next syllable.

📎  음악 → [으막]

📎  발음 → [바름]

📍The final consonants "ㄷ, ㅌ, ㅅ, ㅆ, ㅈ," and "ㅊ" are all pronounced as the representative sound [ㄷ].

📎 꽃안 → [꼬단]

📍When the final consonant "ㅎ" is followed by a syllable starting with "ㅇ", the "ㅎ" becomes silent and is omitted in pronunciation.

📎 좋아 → [조아]

📍When the final consonant "ㅎ" is followed by "ㄱ, ㄷ, ㅂ," or "ㅈ," they combine to be pronounced as the aspirated sounds [ㅋ, ㅌ, ㅍ,] and [ㅊ], respectively.

📎 닿고 → [다코]

📎 놓다 → [노타]

📎 맏형 → [마텽]

📎 부딪히다 → [부디치다]
